Beware, Night Work Trigger Breast Cancer

Beware, Night Work Trigger Breast Cancer

WORKING night was not only physically fragile, but also threaten the health of women. Because the risk of breast cancer lurking.
The researchers warn that women who work the night shift have a higher risk of developing breast cancer by 40 percent. While the women who work the night shift is more than twice a week have twice the risk of developing breast cancer than women who worked the afternoon shift.

Experts believe, hormones in the body that could potentially suppress tumor can be disrupted by constant light exposure during night work. Have found evidence that working night shifts may increase the risk of cancer because they interfere with the body's working hours and the production of hormones.
Recent research has supported the Danish Cancer Society involving more than 18 500 women who worked in the military Denmark in 1964-1999. Researchers contacted 210 women from a total of 218 women soldiers who had breast cancer between 1990 and 2003 and who were alive in 2005-2006. They were paired with the same 899 year old woman who worked for Danish troops, but not breast cancer.
The women completed detailed questionnaires that included questions about their work patterns, use of oral contraceptives and HRT, sunbathing habits, and whether they themselves are classified as the "morning" or the "night".
Night workers are also nearly four times more likely to have contracted the disease or illness. This is possible because night workers are more vulnerable to disruption of the body's biological clock. Johnni Hansen said the researchers, working night shifts twice a week does not interfere with the body clock. But, often worked the night shift for several years can disrupt circadian rhythms (body clock) and sleep patterns, as released Dailymail.
Exposure to light at night inhibits melatonin production produced by the pineal gland in the brain between the hours of 08.00 and 09.00. Melatonin is a hormone that determines the natural cycles that govern sleep patterns and helps suppress tumors. Research has shown that melatonin levels are unusually low in people exposed to light at night can increase tumor growth.
Dr. Rachel Greig of Breakthrough Breast Cancer said: "Working the night shift is not the only cause of the high risk of getting cancer. But, the night shift may increase the likelihood of other lifestyle risk factors, such as lack of exercise. Therefore, all women should reduce alcohol consumption, getting regular physical activity, and maintaining a healthy diet to reduce the risk of breast cancer. "
