Luckily the experts say there are various tips and tricks you can use to fight the weight gain because of a job, you even can use office hours to promote healthy eating.
"You must know the various aspects about yourself, including your trigger weight gain," says Samantha Heller, a registered dietitian. "I think when you plan it, certainly easier to make healthy choices."
To be more clear, consider the top seven factors are thought to contribute to weight gain in the workplace according to the CareerBuilder survey respondents following a variety of strategies to overcome them, straight from the experts as reported from the Huffingtonpost, Monday (11/06/2012).
A. SitAccording to CareerBuilder, 54 percent of respondents who experienced weight gain spend the time to sit at his desk all day. But experts say it is very easy to repair.
"It is termudahnya lift your butt," said Heller. Specifically, Heller recommends that you rest for 5 minutes every hour, certainly not just for a drink / coffee making, let alone smoking.
Try walking down some stairs or out to the parking lot to do jumping jacks. With sitting all day not just mean you can not burn many calories, Heller explained, but this condition also makes your body lazy and tend to behave in unhealthy.
2. Eating for Stress37 percent of respondents said that eating because of stress is a major cause of weight gain in the workplace. To prevent this, the experts give you two options. First, try to control your stress.
"Stress is a common phenomenon that occurs in the workplace. We'll always be able to change the circumstances that create stress, but what we can do is change our response," said Heller. He was advised to take a deep breath and slowly 5 times.
Second, the key is in the healthy menu choices in your hand.
"Make sure that you keep supplying healthy snacks in your desk for when you start eating because of stress it's a snack that will save you," said Forberg.
3. Eating OutOnly about 20 percent of respondents who say that eating out at regular office hours contributing to your weight gain.
If this is the culture inherent in your office, then the key is to go to a place that you know have a healthy menu such as fish, grilled chicken or salads, light Bethany Thayer, a registered dietitian and spokesman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
The other question is what is meant by 'regular' by respondents. In this survey, more than half of respondents said they go to eat outside the office as much as once a week and almost a quarter of eating out at least three times a week.
In general, Thayer suggests tips which he called 'rule of 80/20'. "If the percentage of healthy eating and exercise you have reached 80 percent, then you can get 20 percent of the rest to play around," said Thayer. "That means you can eat out once a week and choose to eat whatever you want."
4. Skip Eat19 percent of workers claimed to have to skip meals due to time constraints.
"And this can be overcome by preparing yogurt. Some kind of fruit or a peanut butter sandwich and hold your purse in the bag," said Heller.
The key is to plan things so that when you are late or do not have much time to eat, you can still maintain your health and avoid state and vent too hungry to eat after hours home from work, he added.
5. The celebration partyAnniversary celebration is a major cause of weight gain for 18 percent of respondents.
There is only one option, says Thayer, namely to consolidate with your colleagues so that when celebrating with cake is no longer a common practice in the office.
"You can talk proactively with your colleagues, for example, 'Can we merge all the anniversary of the people who were born in this month in a party?" he added. If it is considered unattractive or impossible because of the size of your company, there must be another healthy option. For example, by providing a bowl of fruit or a salad as a dish in the party.
6. Candy jarWhile it might provide a jar of candy on your desk it seems like a nice gesture, 16 percent of respondents claimed that it only gives the candy jar too much temptation and contribute to weight gain.
Experts say that having a healthy snack (like a handful of nuts or a piece of fruit) is very important.
Another option is hydration, light Forberg. "Make sure you have a bottle or larger mug brought from home or buy a special glass to be put in office," he said. "Because sometimes we misjudge thirst with hunger."
Remember also that what you see comes from what's on your mind. "Try to start sending e-mail to a coworker who always remove brown M & M or if you need to call them," he added.
"Put healthy snacks like nuts in a jar of your own to put in a corner of your desk. It may also be encouraging people to do the same thing."
7. Pressure to Eat Snacks from CoworkersOnce again, though it seems co-worker or your boss who brought the fruit of the hand is a good thing, but 10 percent of respondents said they felt pressured to eat the food and the pressures that contribute to weight gain.
"This is a difficult thing because you can not control the arrival of the donuts on the table your teammates," I Forberg. Your choices were pretty obvious and easy, there is no magic solution, he explained. Make sure you have the choice of your own healthy snacks or if this does not work, try making an honest conversation with your colleagues that you are related concerns.
